I usually describe Match.com like a bar. It’s full of people looking to meet someone, but just like a bar, it’s a little random about who those people are, and what they [Continue Reading]

Ok, so about Match. I’d like to give <href=”http://datetastic.net/MatchSU” target=”_blank”>Match.com my vote for “socially acceptable dating site” as well as “best website for people new to online dating”. It is definitely the right place to start if you’re worried about what people might think about you deciding to online date, or if you’re new to the idea of looking for a relationship online, and want to ease into things without having to make the big time & money commitment that comes with sites like eHarmony (read my review of eHarmony here).
Match has a more casual/ less-intense approach to dating than some other sites, making it a good choice for people looking to explore what’s out there, and see if they feel comfortable with it. With Match you can kind of just putting a toe in the dating pool – rather than jumping into the whole pool right away.[Continue Reading]
Is music important to you? It definitely is to me, and it is absolutely something I look for in someone I am going to date.
So much so, that once when I was living on the West Coast, I made a guy get out of my car and walk home, because he refused to “take it back!” when he told me he thought Pearl Jam sucked.
(To be fair, he was only like 2 miles from home, I gave him multiple chances to retract the blasphemous words he said, and the fact that I was driving meant that he didn’t have a car, so we were doomed to break up eventually anyhow.)
But I digress: If having similar musical tastes is important to you in a relationship,[Continue Reading]
Ok, my review on Chemistry.com will be here in a bit. For now, I’ll just tell you that it’s kind of like a blend between eHarmony and Match. Definitely not just an eHarmony knock off – you seem to have more flexibility with who you get matched with, but it also does give you a lot more privacy than Match.
If you want to try it before I review it, here’s a link:

No really, JDate.com kind of makes me wish I was Jewish. Why? Because I haven’t talked to a single Jewish person who hasn’t met someone awesome on JDate!
So I can’t really give JDate a personal review here on Datetastic, because I haven’t tried it myself. I think you can actually join JDate if you’re not Jewish (remind me to double check on that later, I’d hate to say it and then be wrong) but something about me feels a little hypocritical doing that, so I am just going to recommend JDate based on the fact I have only heard good things about it from friends who have used the site, and the fact that I know quite a few Jewish couples that met on that website.
And hey! – If you have used JDate.com and can add something useful to this review, please leave it in the comment section. I would love to have some more information to give to people.
Whether you’re an Ivy League graduate, a Big 10 graduate, an MBD, MD, PhD, a busy CEO with little time to date, or simply a white collar professional looking to date someone else with a similar career or education, there are many dating websites that specialize in helping match you with someone similar.
I will be posting reviews for many dating websites for professionals soon (this reviewing stuff takes time you know!) but in the meantime, I would suggest you read my review on eHarmony, because eHarmony’s site gives you the best options for controlling who you get matched with – including whether your date’s education, career, and/or income is similar to your own.
Plenty Of Fish….. Hmmm, what to say. Honestly, I’m not really a fan. As with every dating website, it really does depend on what you’re looking for, of course, but for most people, I’m going to suggest you stay away from this one.
“But M!” you’ll say, “It’s free! And I’ve heard all about it on the news and stuff! So how can it not be just super awesome! And I mean it’s free! Dating is supposed to be free, right? So this site would have the best people, right, not people who would need to PAY for a date like on eHarmony or something, right?”
Um. Yeah. Cause clearly free stuff attracts only the highest quality, and best members of society, right? I mean,[Continue Reading]
